As part of an ongoing commitment to corporate social responsibility, world leading manufacturer of specialist patient handling solutions, Joerns Healthcare is pleased to announce the signing of a partnership agreement with Acorns Children’s hospice, caring for children and families across the heart of England.
Moving to brand new office premises just outside Pershore at the beginning of this year, Joerns Healthcare, best known for their Oxford range of patient lifts was keen to forge relationships with the local community by supporting a regionally based charity funded organisation. Explains Marketing Manager Tom Bulpitt: “While making a choice like this is never easy – there being so many worthwhile causes in the local area – when it came down to making the final decision we were all unanimous, it just had to be Acorns. We were all very impressed when we visited the Worcester hospice and saw first-hand the incredible work they do for children and young people with life limiting conditions.”
Joerns Healthcare is the latest in a line of local organisations to partner Acorns, joining such well known names as Aston Villa, Birmingham Airport and Worcester Warriors.
Having met with a number of Acorns staff and children during a recent hospice visit, Joerns Healthcare’s Managing Director Nathan McWattie remarked: “It is a real privilege for Joerns to be involved with this amazing organisation and the wonderful people who work for them. With our specialist skills and knowledge of the acute and community healthcare markets, we look forward to helping Acorns improve the lives of these children and their families.”
As part of the partnership agreement Joerns will support Acorns across a number of areas, including the donation of patient handling equipment, the provision of specialist moving and handling training, staff fundraising activities, onsite voluntary work as well as collaborative PR and marketing exercises to generate additional publicity for each of Acorns’ three hospices.
Commenting on this new agreement, Acorns Corporate and Partnership Manager, Elinor Eustace says: “We are delighted to have Joerns onboard, not least as it marks an important first for Acorns, the first time we have teamed up with a healthcare related partner. We rely on voluntary support for over 70% of our funding so commitments such as this are hugely important. We have to be there for our families 24/7, 365 days a year, so it’s great to know Joerns has chosen to work with us for us long term so that we can continue to operate. There is no doubt this is an exciting development for Acorns, one which I feel certain will flourish and grow larger still over the passage of time.”
